聖剣の刀鍛冶

「原作買おっかな～」と思っているうちにコミックが発売され，アニメ化までされた本作。アニメの視聴を開始するとともに，取り急ぎコミックを読みましたので，関連で。

時は，「代理契約戦争」終結から４４年。
人の血肉を捧げることで悪魔と契約し，その悪魔を以て行われた大戦以降，「悪魔契約」は禁忌の力とされ，大陸は安定しつつあるかに見えた。そういう時代の，ある意味王道とも言えるファンタジー作品です。

コミック第１巻は，ヒロイン「セシリー・キャンベル」が刀鍛冶「ルーク・エインズワース」と出会い，ルークの打つ「刀」を持つに相応しいかを見定めてて貰うべく遠征した盗賊討伐において「悪魔」と出くわしこれを打ち破る，その辺りまで。アニメ編でいうと，第２話の中程辺りまでが収録されています。

アニメと比べて思うのは，全体的に描写の設定年齢が高めです。遠征軍は次々とワーウルフに潰され肉塊と化していくし，セシリーは普通に返り血を浴びて全身真っ赤だし。ただ，絵が非常に上手く構図や見せ方にも優れ，作品としてのレベルはとても高いと思います。
特に，氷の悪魔と対峙するにあたりルークが刀を精錬するくだりは本巻のクライマックスに当たりますが，このあたりのセシリーの「盾」とルークの「刀」の描かれ方がとてもよくて，色んな意味で「王道」と言える作品です。
アニメも絵が可愛くていいですが，全体的に漫画の見せ方の方が，私は好みでした。

本巻ラストで，「魔剣アリア」顔見せ。２巻以降の活躍に期待したいところです。
